Marking the end of the current Swarovski  Collectors Society “Magic of Dance” trilogy, SWAROVSKI, the worlds’ leading brand for cut crystal includes the 2004 Annual Edition, the ballerina ANNA. Following ISADORA in 2002 who represented the passion of Modern Dance, and ANTONIO in 2003,
who embodied the temperament of flamenco, the latest SCS Annual Edition
pays homage to ballet. Legendary Russian prima ballerina
Anna Pavlova, who till this day remains an idol for countless ballet students
all over the world, was the source of inspiration for ANNA.
For a Swarovski photo production Anna Polikarpova, the prima ballerina of Hamburg Ballet Company, slipped into the role of her world famous predecessor under the choreography of John Neumeier.
With his crystal interpretation of ANNA, designer Anton Hirzinger, a name well-known and highly regarded among crystal lovers, has succeeded in embodying both the intrinsic elegance of a ballerina and the energy and weightlessness of her leap. The designer describes the making of the figure, which appears to be floating in mid-air over it’s curved base, as a enormous creative and technical challenge. “In order to capture the characteristics of a ballet dancer in one freeze-frame pose, I immersed myself in the work of Anna Pavlova and visited a number of ballet performances”. The expression of the flowing movement, with the arms spread elegantly upward and downward and both legs in the air made particularly high demands on the designer’s experience. Other challenging details included the tilted pose of the body and head and the beautiful face of the dancer. The combination of basic facets in the upper party of the body and the modern cuts employed in the flowing skirt and yellow sash which contribute to the dynamism of the piece.

Swarovski presents the Swarovski Collectors Society's Annual Edition 2003
Spirited, intense and emotional, such dances are the quintessence of flamenco and Latin dance. For members of the Swarovski Collectors Society, Martin Zendron has captured the spirit of flamenco and all its passion in sparkling cut crystal.
Fiery emotion that's tempered with consummate grace, every single detail, down to the finely crafted fingertips, expresses the significance of flamenco. Martin Zendron succeeded in capturing the tension, energy and emotion of this passionate dance in richly faceted, full-cut Swarovski crystal. The flowing shirt with its myriad precision cut facets is a shining example of Swarovski's legendary crystal expertise and stands in attractive contrast to the long facets of the trousers, which give Antonio a modern, elegant appearance. Red is the color of passion and emotion, which is reflected in Antonio's hat and hair-band.
Antonio is limited to one piece per SCS member and can be ordered only until December 31, 2003.
